Western Regional Championships
September 28, 2002

Last weekend at the Western Regional Championships at the Hollister GP track was a great race. The thing that makes championships so cool is that if you win you get really big trophies. These were 6ft tall. Here we go.

Saturday - Day One
The first moto I got the hole shot and was right in front of Chris Arroyo (777), a kid I had never seen before. He and I battled the whole entire race. It was so fun! I led the whole race but he was close enough to touch my fender. I would gain on him, then he would catch up again. I was so psyched when I finally won the moto.

Moto two, I didn’t get the hole shot, but I passed him in the first turn and led the rest of the race. He was on my tail though. I won again. On the drive home, I fell asleep because I was so wiped from the two motos.

Sunday-Day Two
The third moto I was in, there were some new faces and some faces I did not see, that had been there yesterday at the first two motos. All that was on my mind was to win that race. I was on the starting gate, revving up my engine, waiting for the gate to drop. And there it went. I popped out of the gate in a wheeley . When I stopped wheeliing and got my wheel to the ground, I was almost in last. So I had to work my way up to 2nd. Then I was on Chris’s tail until I fell. Two people passed me. I got up right away. One fell so I passed him. Then the other rider I passed over a jump right before the finish and got 2nd.

Finally, the last moto had come. Who ever would take the win, would take the trophy. It was the 4th time the gate would drop. The gate dropped and I was ready, but Chris won the start. I was right on his tail, then we came to a turn where I was faster and I passed him and he fell. I was so happy. Not that he fell, but that I knew I had won.

All said and done, my cousins and I had a great time at the championships. After the day was over, we all went to eat burritos at our favorite market.
