How to ride a non-rutted “slicker” turn
- As with any obstacle, when you are coming into a turn, make sure you spend no time coasting. Once you are off the gas, immediately apply the brakes. For braking, make sure you apply both so that you can stop faster and not fall. Use more of the front brake to bring the front end down and not too much back brake to maximize the amount of control.
- After breaking for the corner, position yourself in an attacking upright position. Lean your bike over, but not your body. Keep your body in the same upright attack position. Stick your leg strait forward, pointing towards the hub of your front wheel. If you do this right, you will be sitting so that your butt is not flat on the seat. Once you are here, get on the gas!
- Now that you have made it through the sharpest part of the corner, tilt the bike slightly back up and get on the gas hard.
